Wes Flinn, PhD

Treasurer

I am a music theorist, composer, euphoniumist, trombonist, and conductor. I hold the PhD in music theory from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (UC-CCM). I also hold the MM in composition from CCM and the BM in theory/composition from Morehead State University. Currently I am Associate Professor of Music, Coordinator of the Music Discipline, and Campus Assessment Facilitator at the University of Minnesota Morris, which is unsurprisingly in Morris, MN. My research interests include transformation theory, music theory pedagogy, wind band music, American music, and music for the stage.

I have the greatest wife in the world (Amanda); she’s only had one lapse in judgement in the entire time I’ve known her (saying “I do”). We serve as staff for two sixteen-year old cats that we’ve had since they were kittens (Dido and Chloe), as well as a three-year-old ball of floof that showed up in a parking lot one night and stole our hearts (Amelia) and my late mother’s ten-year-old fine boi (Tucker). At the age of just under 40, I finally became a homeowner, and our little slice of Morris is as wonderful a place as there is on this ball of mud. Come visit – there’s no twelve-hour stretch quite like summer in west-central Minnesota.
